Did I train the same ?
And at that point, nothing, not a single sore muscle, absolutely nothing! So : did I develop the same power ? Was I going all out as the training plan demanded ? I think so but… to be 100% sure, let’s check this out !

This is how I met the guys from Incrediwear earlier this year, in between two training camps in Lausanne, Switzerland. I am listening carefully the brand presentation et most particularly the one allocated to the products aimed to recover… faster… better…
What? Black socks?!
With around 3 trainings a day, mixing speed, endurance and resistance, I am always looking to optimise my recovery times. At first glance, or more exactly at first hear, I am in the right place. My espresso cup is getting empty. I am now full equipped with products aiming to help my legs recover faster : post training leg warmers, calf sleeves and socks… What ? Socks ? Again ? And black ? What the f*ck is going on here ?
Curious and interested, I am already thinking about how I can test this technology out. As a reminder, muscle recovery is a cleaning process and regeneration of the muscle after a traumatism, due to heavy work load or in worst case, an injury. This recovery is mainly driven by the blood flow within the muscles.
Knowing the basics, Incrediwear designed products to optimize this blood flood : the more blood is going into the muscles and the faster the recovery will be, looks simple isn’t it ? I just have to charge my trainings to confirm or break the marketing talk. Perfect – or maybe not – I am going on a training camp in the Baleares, Yeahhh I aam so mainstream!
First day: 3 trainings – 2 are mixing speed and explosiveness on the bike and a fitness workout session to recruit new fibers in the afternoon. A training base that comes every week over winter. Not really able to tired my legs.
Day 2: remake. 3 trainings to complete the previous day : speed and resistance – read, longer rides and longer intervals. Again I am well pretty used to these trainings, and know exactly the feeelings afterwards. A hyper-capillarisation of the legs, not painful but a feeling that clearly states that I’ve done a good one.
3rd day: Speed and intervals on the road bike and running. Yeah, finally I should have the first muscle sores, they come with the plan. I wear the leg warmers for over 3 days in between the trainings and take them off when I go to sleep. Yeah, they are warm !

I go back on a new training load. No rest, let’s build a serious one : lactate resistance.
I want to get the final word. Quick chat over the phone with the coach : let’s double the workload. 2 hours on the cx bike – fartlek – and, 3 hours running at normal pace. One hour, 2 hours, OK, I am getting tired and my pace goes slower. My brain turns off, I run. Here we go, I’m cooked ! My pace slows down to 4’30’’, then 4’45’’ and finally 5’ per km. 3 hours, legs are heavy, I will have some muscle sores.
Shower, leg warmers… this time I sleep with. I wake up, no serious pain. I go on an easy recovery ride : 2 hours on the cx, the next day gonna be tough ! but NO, legs are heavy but no muscle sores. You know which ones ? The ones that make any stairs a nightmare !
OK, that’s pretty obvious, something is happening with these. The feeling of fourmillement I’ve when wearing the products is much more than a simple and funny feeling. The product helps to recover… I am not faster, but the recovery quality is higher. Speed will come in a second time.
